room.

with the reading of the minutes. Passed.
ITEM NO. 4 - TREASURERŐS REPORT: $ 9,663.32 in the account. This amount is after
sending money to FSMA.
ITEM NO. 5 - ANNOUNCEMENTS, ETC.: The legislature passed the bill allowing one
semester of marching band to count for 1/2 a credit of PE. This will go into
effect for next year in Pinellas County.
ITEM NO. 6 - UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Evaluation forms for adjudicators for Solo/Ensemble and Concert Music
Performance Assessments are on the web site.
Chairman Suris still needs feedback from the high school directors regarding the
new format we tried this year of the High School Concert Music Performance
Assessment.
Ford reported the new format was a great thing, and even though it was a bit
lengthy it was worth it considering what the students were getting out of it.
Williams thought it was great, but can probably get away with two clinicians
instead of three.
ITEM NO. 7 - COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Williams suggested we continue to work on ways to involve middle school students
in the Marching Music Performance Assessment.
Lewis said that one big issue is getting students to the assessment. Depending
on where the assessment is, maybe Jeanne Reynolds could provide transportation.
Ford suggested giving 2 tickets to each middle school as opposed to 1 ticket,
that way a student is more likely to come if the parent can get in as well.
ITEM NO. 8 - NEW BUSINESS:
Motion Benoit/Williams: to nominate Hannah Ehrmann as District 9 Chairman for
2002-2004. Passed.
Motion Benoit/Ford: to nominate Stephen Cantin as District 9 Secretary for

knowledge in band), Osceola Middle, Tyrone Middle ( band and chorus).
Linda Clark from Tyrone Middle will be retiring this year.
Concerning the requests for new equipment, if you are ordering items not on the
bid list you must be specific as to what you want. Ford suggested that we do
something collectively to help Jeanne Reynolds in getting a full time secretary.
We can all write letters or get our booster presidents together to take action.
Foreign Language requirement - it is possible to waive out PE and take a foreign
language. It is up to the principal.
Chairman Suris suggested to contact Chris Gaines to record for all-state
auditions so we can improve the quality of the all-state recordings.
