TREASURER’S REPORT

 

$9, 015.00 (Marching Festival Gate Receipts) and $950.00 from Champion Photo

Total in checking: $17,009.34

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

ALL-STATE

Thank you to Thomas Silliman at South Seminole M.S. for an outstanding job of hosting All-State Auditions.

An explanation of why the delay for the All-State results was given.

Discussion on the scale time restraints for middle school students trying out for All-State.

Motion: Bottemly/Nieman: To make the middle school All-State scale time to 3 minutes which would include the chromatic scale. (Passed)

Motion: Kidd/C. McKinney To have the board approve the All-State requirements at the December meeting instead of the May meeting. (Passed)

Justification: Many schools are letting out in May and it is difficult to get corrections to the students over the summer.

Motion: Kidd/C. McKinney: To publish the All-State requirements in a four year cycle starting in the year 2003. (Passed)

MARCHING FESTIVAL

Thank you to Adam McIntyre at Deland High School for a superb job of hosting FBA Marching Festival.

FMEA Clinic/Conference

Tampa, January 19 - 12, 2002

Extended the pre-registration until Nov. 30, 2002.

Ms. Berry encouraged the membership to attend the clinics.

NEW BUSINESS

All forms must submitted on a PC formatted disk using FBA FESTIVAL program

SOLO/ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL

High School - Feb. 8-9, 2002 @ Deltona High School

(Color guard and Jazz Bands will be scheduled Friday night)

High School - Concert Festival Date: Feb 28, March 1, & 2 , 2002 at Lake Howell

HIGH SCHOOL ENTRY FORMS (S & E and Concert) DUE JAN. 18 (POSTMARKED JAN. 16)

ASSESSMENT FORM AND CHECK MUST ACCOMPANY ENTRY.

Drive them to Cindy school if necessary to avoid fines. Be on time with the forms. {no personal checks}

Ms. Berry asked everyone to double check assessment forms before submission, so we can minimize conflicts.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL ENTRY FORM DUE JAN. 25 (POSTMARKED JAN. 23)

Let Cindy know if you need the instructions for filling out the forms properly.

Middle School - Feb. 22 & 23 , 2002 @ South Seminole M.S.

Middle school jazz band Friday performance

M.S. Concert Festival Dates: April 18 – 20, @ Lyman H.S.

Motion: Bottemly/Gillard: To have middle school concert festival at Lyman High School (Passed)

NOMINATIONS FOR ADJUDICATORS

Motion: Malcolm/Pattishall: Dennis Line – nominated for Marching Music Performance, Marching Music Effect, Marching & Maneuver, Marching General Effect, Solo and Ensemble Brass, and Concert Band(Passed)

Motion: Gillard/C. McKinney: Jerry Picott - nominated for Marching Music Performance, Marching Music Effect, Marching & Maneuver, Marching General Effect (Passed)

CLINICS COMMITTEE

PROPOSALS TO THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

There was discussion concerning the upcoming proposals on the music classification.

Following concerns:

Significant grade 3’s versus regular grade 3’s and their relationship with classification in festival.

C class band that play 5’s will now play A class sightreading.

Adjudicators must be at a class A standing.

A presentation was made by Paul Wilson on the usage of the FBA FESTVAL program.

District #6 would like to thank Paul Wilson for his presentation tonight.

Thanks to Terry Pattishall for the use of her bandroom for the meeting

Birth Announcements

Congratulations to Muse’s for the birth of their first daughter Cassandra Elisabeth.

Congratultions to the Gillard’s for the birth of their daughter Delana Kiandra.
