Unfinished Business
Discussion of allstate auditions was held. Only real problems were the operation of the tympani in the percussion room.
We will do a better job of making sure the equipment is in good working order for next year.
Directors are encouraged to continue screening prospective students as well as knowing their grade and instrument.
Make plans now to attend FMEA Clinic January 10, 11, and 12.
Thank you to mentoring directors. Things are moving smoothly.
All 74 schools in the district are clear and paid in full with FSMA.
The proposal to allow directors to select their own classification by selecting the level of music they perform at Music Performance Assessment was discussed in great length. There were a vast majority who felt that we should go on record as being in favor of the proposal. There were some ideas put forward that might make the proposal a bit more structured. Chairman Miles will take these ideas to the Board.

A secret ballot was held and the district supports the recommendation. Mr. Davis was given the application form and instructed to begin getting letters of recommendation to be forwarded to Bentley Shellahammer.
Suggestions for Clinics Committee
Beginning techniques for Elementary directors being unsure of certain instruments.
A seminar with examples of well-prepared all-state students contrasted by some that should not have done the audition. Some folks out there don’t know the level of musicianship throughout the state.

Good of the Association
Dean Calmer spoke of the All County Orchestra rehearsals and concert on November 14th and encouraged band directors to support with time and students to provide the wind section. Auditions October 29. All-state scales and slow etude. Wind players must make all rehearsals.
Joe Luechauer encouraged the use of provided busses to transport students to Tampa for All-State. The county has also reserved a block of rooms. All directors must do is register students with FMEA and get information of students riding the busses and who goes into which rooms to Joe Luechauer. He will take care of rooming and transportation. List chaperones going even though they are not planning to ride the bus.
Ed Barrow will be retiring in January after 24 years in the public school system. He will be available for clinics, sectionals, lessons, and work with percussion of all kinds and shapes.
Larry Brewer offered thanks to bands that participated in The Deerfield Festival, which was a success.
