IN MEMORIAM
William C. Miller
1931-2001
We were all saddened to hear of the death of William C. Miller. Those of us who had known Bill through the years will miss him. Some of the younger directors were getting to know him and where he stood on certain issues. Bill always had an opinion, and it was always a strong one. After finishing a distinguished career teaching at many schools in Florida, Bill set out to help directors as much as he could. Bill would travel the state and visit many programs and tell us "like it was, and how it should be". If you have not read his book on band directing, just do it. Bill was inducted into the Florida Bandmasters Association Hall of Fame in 1999. Bill will be missed at our conventions, and just being a friend; someone who loved and lived music. As was stated at his funeral, he is now up in heaven organizing a beginning band, and you can bet it will be great. There is a fine tribute to Bill on our web page.

The 2001 FBA SUMMER CONFERENCE will be at the Altamonte Springs Hilton on July 19-21. Pre-registration and hotel reservation information will be mailed to you in March. Check the information for the way to sign up for the DIRECTORS READING BAND. Bring the family, enjoy the clinics and fellowship, and get inspired for next year! The Bar-B-Que is back on as well as the softball game!
