| Everything I need to know about managing student behavior I DIDN’T learn in college! Music Educators are trained to be experts in music and pedagogy, but how many of us were truly prepared to handle the challenge of behavior management in the real world of teaching? After four years at a school that utilizes William Glasser’s Choice Theory as its approach to understanding why children act as they do, I have a whole new set of tools for perceiving and managing student behaviors. Attendees of this workshop will walk away with invaluable changes in their perception of human behavior, as well as tools to help them better connect with their students, build relationships among students, and help students become better people by taking responsibility for their own behavior choices.

| Anyone can attend! Modern educators often refer to the challenge of teaching the current generation of kids, and I have found that Choice Theory is one solution. In this follow-up session to Choice Theory: A Different Psychology for Behavior Management in Band, Choir, Orchestra and General Music, attendees will have guided hands-on practice in applying the concepts learned in the previous session. Advanced concepts in the psychology of Choice Theory will be taught as well. Through interactive practice with real-world, relevant scenarios, educators will have the opportunity to practice the techniques learned in the first session as a preparation for use in the classroom.
