Emerging Leaders is an FMEA supported program designed to identify and invest in young teachers who show promise for outstanding professional leadership and advocacy. Those selected are invited to join the group for 3 years of training and activity within the Florida music community under the leadership of Dr. Judy Bowers, Emerging Leaders Chair for FMEA.

Thus, the success of this program relies heavily on nomination of young teachers who reflect the geographic and cultural aspects of the entire state. Nominations currently are made by the divisions of FMEA: FEMEA, FBA, FOA, FVA, etc. and music supervisors are an excellent source for naming outstanding young teachers. However, not all areas are represented in the nomination pool, so that is the goal for this fall.

PLEASE CONSIDER NOMINATING A YOUNG MUSIC TEACHER, particularly if you work in an area with no music administration or limited music opportunities.
