Florida Music Educators' Association Conference

Dear Florida Tri-M Advisor

As you know, Florida’s future music educators and music advocates are among the many students actively participating in Tri-M Chapters across our state. Because of this, we would like to extend to our Florida chapters an invitation to send two (2) student representatives to attend and participate in this year’s FMEA All-State Clinic/Conference that is being held in conjunction with MENC Southern Division in Tampa. Tri-M students will not only have an opportunity to see music education at work in their own state, but would also have the opportunity to witness clinics and concerts that would include 11 southern states. These Tri-M students will also have opportunity to visit the exhibit area and attend our All-State Concerts. This invitation is extended to those students who have not been chosen to participate in an All-State Ensemble and are exemplary leaders in your school’s Tri-M Chapter.

There will be two clinics designed especially for our Tri-M students - one on Friday morning and one on Friday afternoon. Please refer to your conference schedule for more specific information.

To participate in this year’s conference, please adhere to the guidelines listed below:

• Each chapter may register only two (2) student members.
• The school’s chapter must have current chapter dues paid to MENC by October 1st, 2004.
• Students must be bonafide members of their school’s Tri-M Chapter.
• Hotel accommodations must be made in the same manner as other attending All-State students and is the responsibility of the school’s Tri-M Chairperson/director.
• The Tri-M Chairperson/director is ultimately responsible for their students’ safety at all times through the provision and coordination of proper chaperoning. Tri-M students must be accompanied by an official school chaperone that is also registered for the conference. Students may not be chaperoned by their director.
• Tri-M students will be expected to follow hotel rules and curfew times set for all All-State participants.
• Registration for each student is $25.00.
• Registration for the required official school chaperone is $25.00.
• Students, FMEA member teachers and their chaperone must register either online or by hard copy.
